Administration
Instructional leader; provide and maintain a safe and orderly school environment. Students will meet adequate yearly progress on all state target assessments as evidenced by increased proficiency from the Maryland State Assessments, Advanced Placement, SAT, PSAT, and ALTMSA. Set high expectations for myself, staff, students and parents. This is the second year Mr. Garth Bowling has served as principal of Chopticon High School. Previously, he served as principal for 23 years in Charles County at LaPlata High School, McDonough High School, Hanson Middle School and Piccowaxen Middle School. In 2002, Mr. Bowling was awarded The Washington Post’s Distinguished Educational Leadership Award and the Charles County Public School System’s Principal of the Year award. The son of a teacher, Mr. Bowling feels privileged to serve as the principal of Chopticon High School. Many positive changes have been made since he took on the principalship at Chopticon and he enjoys being the leader of one of the most competitive high schools in the Washington metropolitan area.
