Message from our Principal

Welcome to Dynard Elementary School! We are the best kept secret of St. Mary’s County Public Schools. Dynard is nestled in the quiet 7th District Community, but is comprised of the most dedicated group of students and staff. We pride ourselves as being a community of learners, both students and adults alike.


We look forward to another year of outstanding academic achievement, while fostering character education in our students. Our staff and students continuously strive to model and develop excellent character. The Dynard Dragons are on fire with F.L.A.M.E.- Focus, Leadership, Achievement, Manners and Excellence!

We are committed to building leadership in our students as we guide our students to greatness! Dynard continues to build collaborative partnerships with our community such as the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department, 7th District Optimist Club, the American Legion, and Chopticon High School, just to name a few.

Stakeholder involvement is encouraged and we offer the following opportunities at Dynard Elementary:
  • Become a member of our PTA
  • Join a PTA committee
  • Volunteer with PTA
  • Become a member of the School Improvement Team (SIT), 2010-2011 SIT Meetings are posted under the School Improvement Team link.
  • Become a volunteer (see SMCPS volunteer guidelines)
  • Assist with or attend special events: Parent/teacher conferences, Curriculum Nights, Chorus Concerts, Band/Strings Concerts, Character Assemblies, Career Day, and Field Day
