Parent Drop-Off Procedures
Esperanza Middle School 22790 Maple Road Lexington Park MD 20653 Parents, Welcome to a new school year. It’s been brought to my attention that many students are being dropped off in the mornings before staff is required to be on duty. To ensure your child’s safety, the following procedures will be in place beginning August 30, 2009. · Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:00 a.m. Staff will report to their duty stations at 7:00 a.m. · Students must report to the gym until the dismissal bell rings at 7:05. · Cafeteria doors will remain locked until 7:00 a.m. Do not drop your child off prior to this time. The front area outside will not be supervised. For students being dropped off at 7:05, the following procedures will be in place: · Enter the parking lot and follow the cones. Make a right hand turn and drive through the parking area. · You will see several signs indicating the designated drop off area. Please pull forward as far as possible before your child exits the vehicle. · Students should use the crosswalk and report to the gym until the dismissal bell rings at 7:05. · To exit, continue to pull forward and make a left hand turn driving through the parking area. Make a right hand turn to exit the parking lot. The afternoon procedures will be as follows: · 6th and 7th grade students riding the bus will be dismissed at 2:05. · 8th grade students will be dismissed at 2:08. · Walkers and car riders will be dismissed to the cafeteria at 2:11. · All walkers need to have a signed permission form and must sign out in the cafeteria. · All car riders must be signed out by their parent/guardian in the cafeteria. · Students picked up after 2:15 must be signed out in the main office. I know the morning can be a very stressful time for everyone involved. However, the safety of your child is our primary concern. Please adhere to the drop off policy and follow the directions of the staff on duty. Please remember it’s going to take a few extra minutes the first week of school until everyone is back into the routine. A little patience will go a long way for all of us. Thank you for your understanding and support. Ms. Mills Principal |
