Important Announcements

We are very excited to be bringing a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) back to Esperanza Middle School this year! The purpose of a PTA is to give you an opportunity to partner with teachers to enrich the lives of all of the students in our community. Joining the PTA can give you an opportunity to learn more about what is going on at EMS and can give you a chance to voice your opinions about what is happening around the school.

There are currently over 210,000 PTA members across the state of Maryland helping to fulfill the Maryland PTA mission:
  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before government bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
We want the members of our community to be involved too!
By joining the PTA you become a member of the largest volunteer child advocacy group in the nation. We have seen through research studies over the last several decades that students do better when you are involved! The PTA will be integral in creating a positive community in and around EMS. You can help organize after school groups, dances, field trips, guest speakers, or fundraises. You can become an advocate to legislators or write grants to improve the climate of our school. You can help us boost our children’s well-being through any number of activities. Most importantly, you can become an informed parent who knows more about the daily happenings at EMS, thus helping all of the students in our community.
There will be meetings scheduled throughout the year. While attendance is encouraged, it is not mandatory. We are going to try to pair our PTA meetings with our School Improvement Team (SIT) meetings so that your input can be heard in the document that drives how to try to improve EMS.
Membership is $5.00 per child or $7.00 per family and all you need to do to join is return this letter (with the back filled out) to your child’s ICE teacher. Please remember PTA is a non-profit organization. All funds go towards the well-being of our children.
