Coach Talk

Welcome to the Football Page!!! As you navigate through the site, you will be able to find important information regarding both teams such as schedules, players/positions, team rules, parent information, and other tidbits you will find interesting. Goals of the Football Program:

  • To provide a safe, orderly environment for the players.
  • To instill the values of responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fairness and to encourage the players into incorporating these values in their daily living.
  • To promote academic success.
  • To promote the fundamentals, knowledge, and the history of football onto the players.
  • To assist them with skills development and to reach the higher level of varsity play.
  • To have fun and encourage a winning attitude!!!!

Parents Corner

Parents will receive a bi-weekly schedule highlighting practices times, games, and special events. The coaching staff also encourages parents to become involved with their child’s football experiences.

Various Duties:

  • Working the chain gang for games
  • Organizing special events
  • Study Hall supervision
  • Lunch/dinner preparation
  • Helping with concessions during games
  • Assisting with Banquet Awards event
  • Assisting the coaching staff with game statistics
  • Becoming a Booster Club Member
  • Support Varsity Football

Parents are also encouraged to assist their player with the assigned paperwork which includes:

  • Academic schools sheets
  • Code of Student/Parent Conduct
  • Coaches Pledge
  • Permission to photograph for newspapers
  • Drug Awareness Form

The coaching staff welcomes your questions, comments, and concerns and should contact wdgriffith@smcps.org .Please follow the 24 Hour Rule after games.

Practice/game cancellations will be processed through school announcements, parent mass e-mails, and phone calls if necessary.

Freshmen games will usually commence at 5:00 on Thursday with the Junior Varsity games to begin at 7:00. Please refer to the game schedule.

Players are to attend and leave games via the school bus. Player pick-up times will be given per schedule. As a coaching staff, we try to end practice per scheduled times.
