World Languages

Welcome to the Great Mills High School World Language Department Page!

The World Language teachers would like welcome all returning Great Mills students who are studying French, German, Spanish, and our new course, American Sign Language. We are also happy to meet our new students who came to us from our county middle schools, or who transferred to GMHS from other areas. We are excited our students are among those who realize that it is important to become a part of our global community by studying other cultures and learning to speak other languages. We are anticipating a great year of learning.
It also gives us great pleasure to welcome two new teachers to our department. Ms. Meg Vickers, a current staff member, will be teaching a new course, American Sign Language. We also welcome a former Great Mills graduate, Ms. Betsy Lampo who will teach Spanish I and II. Our other department members are Eva Donahue (Spanish), Shawn Rogers (German), Luanne Ruonavar (Spanish), Gisèle Schrader (French), and David Boxwell (Spanish, Department Chair).
All of our world language teachers are committed to helping students realize their greatest potential. There are tutoring sessions available to students who request additional help, and we  encourage parents to contact us whenever there are questions about their child’s progress in the world language program. We encourage both students and parents to peruse SAC and HAC for progress updates, assignments, and syllabi. You may call us or send an e-mail at any time. We look forward to working with all our students and their parents.
Have a great school year!
