World LanguagesWelcome to the Great Mills High School World Language Department Page! The World Language teachers would like to welcome all returning Great Mills students who are studying American Sign Language, French, German, and Spanish. We are also happy to meet our new students who came to us from our county middle schools, or who transferred to GMHS from other areas. We are excited our students are among those who realize that it is important to become a part of our global community by studying other cultures and learning to speak other languages. We are anticipating a great year of learning.
We have four full time department members and two teachers we share with Chopticon and Leonardtown. Our part time American Sign Language teacher is Ms. Meg Vickers and Dr. Joseph Winans teaches German part time. Our French teacher is Ms. Gisèle Schrader. Ms. Eva Donahue, Ms. Betsy Lampo and Mr. David Boxwell (department chair) are our Spanish teachers.
All of our world language teachers are committed to helping students realize their greatest potential. There are tutoring sessions available to students who request additional help, and we encourage parents to contact us whenever there are questions about their child’s progress in the world language program. We encourage both students and parents to view SAC and HAC for progress updates, assignments, and syllabi. For further information, we can be reached by e-mail or by leaving a phone message. We look forward to working with all our students and their parents.
Have a great school year!
