Scholastic Book Fair October 20th-October 24th

We will be open until 4:00pm on Monday, October 20th, Tuesday, October 21st, and Wednesday October 22nd. Once again we are participating in the All For Books program. In this program Scholastic Book Fairs will match monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to two non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children, families, and teachers acquire books and educational resources - Kids In Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.
On Thursday October 23rd the HES PTA will be hosting a Reading Night and we will be open until 8:00pm. There will be more information about this night coming soon. Friday, October 24th is our last day so we will be closing at 3:30pm.
Please visit our Book Fair homepage for all kinds of information. There is a link on the Book Fair homepage to our Online Book Fair, which will open on Wednesday, October 22nd and run through Friday October 31st. If you can't find books at the Book Fair use this site and have the books delivered to HES without any shipping and handling fees. This is a great way to order some Christmas presents for your children.

SMCPS is fortunate to have volunteers in our schools and offices. These individuals, at the request of the school system and under the direct supervision of a principal/site administrator or designated staff, contribute to student success and reinforce the values of education. All volunteers must complete the SMCPS Volunteer Application process. All volunteers working with children at HES should attend the Volunteer Orientation Training annually prior to volunteering in the school. The Volunteer Training will be offered at HES on the following dates this school year:
All trainings will begin promptly at 9:30 am.
Message from the Principal
We are excited about the beginning of a new school year. Our new parent handbook includes our vision and goals of partnership, safe and orderly school environment, and achievement. It also includes information on school policies and procedures. We hope that you will find it helpful as a reference for the questions you have now and will have throughout the year. Please become familiar with its contents and complete and return the colored copies of the current information sheet and the Use of Students in Public Information Programs (located at the end of this packet) as quickly as possible.
