Hello and welcome to Counselor's Corner.

My role as an elementary guidance counselor is to assist in:

*academic growth

*personal/social skill development

*career awareness

I work with students:

*individually

*small group

*classroom guidance

Some topics frequently discussed with the counselor are:

* academic success    * study skills    * test-taking strategies

* appropriate school behavior    * problem-solving     * decision-making     * conflict resolution     * self-esteem issues     * school rules and safety * divorce issues     * grief

Confidentiality is vital in my role as a school counselor. Students need to feel comfortable to talk with me knowing that I will not discuss what we talked about with anyone else. Therefore, I do not call parents when I meet with a child individually unless there is a safety issue involved. In that case, I will alert the parents, school administration, or others as necessary. I do request parent permission for a child to meet with me in a small group meeting for any skill development. If you wish your child to participate in a small group for specific skill building, please contact me or the child’s teacher. Classroom teachers have the permission forms for students to participate in group counseling activities.

I look forward to working with all of you. Please feel free to stop by, call, or email me at the school.
