Message from our Principal

Leonardtown Elementary School located in the heart of Leonardtown, Maryland is a place where students learn, experience, and succeed.  Our student body consists of approximately 590 students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade.  Each day our students are welcomed by our many dedicated staff members.  Student achievement is our number one priority.  All of our teachers, support staff, and administrative staff work collaboratively to ensure that "learning for every student" occurs every day.

 
Leonardtown Elementary is a community school where the input of our stakeholders is sought and valued. We hold quarterly School Improvement Team (S.I.T) Meetings to provide a venue for discussion and collaboration focused on upholding the tradition of excellence at LES. Our upcoming S.I.T. meeting dates will be posted in August. We look forward to seeing you there.
 
Our students have the opportunity to participate in many enrichment activities including Destination Imagination, Science Club, Chess Club, Math Team, and Morning School to name a few. We are very fortunate to have such a committed group of staff members and parent volunteers who give their time and talent to these programs for our students.
 
PTA is a very active part of LES. We will soon be recruiting new members for our executive board as our president’s two year term ends this year. If you are interested in learning more about our PTA please contact the school.
