The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary certification initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity.
LES received a visit from National Geographics as part of their 26 Random Acts of Kindness in memory of the Sandy Hook victims. The employees visited Ms. Nueslein's class, read to the students, shared books, and then donated them to our school library. Thank you to National Geographics for this wonderful donation!

LES Outreach Program We are starting an outreach program with our families who are in need of a variety of assistance (such as food, clothing, household supplies, etc.). You have recently received a notice about the program--asking for support but I wanted to give you a little more information. This program is coordinated by parents in our community who wanted to help families in need. They are counting on help from other community members to help with purchasing items at times or donating money to help buy items needed. The outreach program contacts these families monthly to see what their 3 biggest needs may be for the month, then the coordinators post the needed items on a website and supporters can go on the website to sign up to purchase items. I posted the website below if you wish to check it out. If you have any families to recommend for this program, please give me the names so I can send them the information, if I haven't already done so. Currently, we have 10 families who have signed up for the program. Click here for the link.

URGENT SAFETY REMINDER FOR PARENTSThis message is for any parent, guardian, sibling or daycare provider that bring students to school via vehicle. LES School Procedure states: Drop off for students begins at 8:30 and only when staff members are present outside on the sidewalk. The school day for students begins at 8:40 so any students dropped off after 8:40 will be considered tardy and the person driving the student to school will be required to park their vehicle and walk the student inside to the main office and sign them in. No students should ever be dropped off and sent in on their own without staff present. For more detailed Arrival & Dismissal information, please read the letter attached under Hot Topics - Parent Communications. Thank you all for adhering to this policy and understanding that the safety and security of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. Parent Transport Procedure
