CLASS OF 2010
Potential Student Drivers
• Parking Applications will be made available July 31, 2009 in the 12th Grade Assistant Principals office, from 9:00 – 3:00. Applications will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
• Applications will be distributed to seniors who meet the eligibility criteria and juniors who can demonstrate academic need to drive. (Such as dual enrollment in college, a copy of the college registration form with class times and dates must accompany the parking application).
• Applications should be completed in full, and A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION OF THE VEHICLE and A COPY OF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE MUST BE ATTACHED.
• Applications will be accepted AFTER students undergo training as prescribed by the Young Drivers Safety Initiative in the St. Mary’s County Public School System. This consists of a 1 hour student assembly.
• The Fee for Parking will be $50.00.
• All students will be required to sign a safe driving contract.
• The Young Drivers Safety Initiative MANDATORY training will be held August 7, 2009. All students seeking a parking permit MUST attend. This training will begin at 10:30 am in the LHS auditorium. Permits will be distributed after the training on a first come first serve basis.
• All students parking at Leonardtown High School will be encouraged to register their vehicle with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office “S.T.O.P.P.E.D. Program”. Each student presenting supporting documentation demonstrating that their vehicle has been registered with the “S.T.O.P.P.E.D. Program” will receive a $10.00 discount taken from the total cost of their school parking permit. This supporting documentation must be presented at the time the student is paying for their parking permit.
