Cross Country The Leonardtown Cross Country team completed another successful season in 2009. Although practice didn’t officially start until August 15th, runners were working hard through the summer months to prepare for the upcoming season. The coaching staff was extremely proud of the way that the team prepared before and during the season. The improvement throughout the season for all of the runners was excellent. The cross country team displayed a hard work ethic throughout the season, which no doubt led to the team’s success. Both the girls and boys finished the season undefeated and won the conference championship race for the 6th straight season on a row. The boys finished 2nd in the region and the girls finished 2nd, qualifying both teams for the state meet. In the state meet, the boys finished 10th and the girls finished 6th. The coaching staff is extremely proud of each and every runner. Seniors on the team will be dearly missed. The coaching staff hopes that younger runners will step up and fill their shoes. And with a large crop of returning runners, next season looks to be another promising one for the Cross Country team. |
