Media Center

Media Center hours 7:45-3:15
The Media Center at LHS is open to all students and staff every day from 7:45 until at least 3:15 . Students are welcome to visit the media center before and after school. During the school day, students may come to the center with their classes or individually with a pass from a teacher. Students may also sign up to use the media center during their lunch period. They will be given a special pass from the media center.

Media Resources

BOOKS: Fiction, nonfiction, reference, paperbacks

MAGAZINES: Current magazines may be read in the media center. Back issues of magazines are available for checkout.

REFERENCE MATERIALS: Reference Materials may not be checked out; however, copies will be made from all reference materials at no cost.

COMPUTERS: Available for individual student use with a pass from the classroom teacher. There is a 10 cent fee per page for printing.

SAT: Practice programs are available in the media center and online at testprep.com.

AV: Videotapes, CDs, audiocassettes, DVD's

NEWSPAPERS: The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Enterprise

We keep these newspapers for at least one week. Students may use old newspapers to cut out articles, cartoons, and other items.

PRINTING: All printing is $.10 per page.

COPIES: Copies made from the library materials are FREE...especially copies from reference materials.

INTERNET: The Internet is for educational use only. No e-mail, chat rooms, bulletin boards, or surfing are permitted. Computer use must be related to school assignments. Ask permission from a media specialist before printing.

Media Center staff:
The media center staff members Mrs. Igoe, Mrs. Stamm, and Mrs. Harvey welcome all new and returning Leonardtown High School students.

The Media Center staff and student aides are ready to help answer reference questions and provide general information, assist students with locating and checking out materials, as well as, help with using the computers and the Internet. Students should stop in and take advantage of the excellent resources available here.

GIANT FOOD STORES A+ BONUS BUCKS PROGRAM
Once again this year, the LHS media center is participating in the Giant Food Stores A+ Bonus Bucks Program, which donates funds to schools through your Giant Bonus Card usage. The funds will go to the media center. Please help us earn funds for items such as batteries, CDs, and videotapes and DVDs for our school. Even if you signed up last year, you must designate your school again each new school year.
