Student Parking Permits
ATTENTION SENIORS
CLASS OF 2011
Potential Student Drivers
® Parking applications will be made available Wednesday August 4, 2010 in the 12th grade Assistant Principals office, from 9:00 – 2:30. Applications will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Please do not arrive at the school prior to 8:30.
® Applications will be distributed to seniors who meet the eligibility criteria and juniors who can demonstrate an academic need to drive (such as dual enrollment in the college, a copy of the college registration form with class times and dates must accompany the parking applications). Juniors who qualify for a parking permit will be chosen based on a lottery system.
® Applications should be completed in full, A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION OF THE VEHICLE, and A COPY OF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE MUST BE ATTACHED.
® Applications will be accepted AFTER students undergo training as prescribed by the Young Drivers Safety Initiative in the St. Mary’s Public School System. This consists of a 1 hour student assembly. Additionally will be distributed to students who are clear of any student edbt with Leonardtown High School.
® The fee for parking will be $50.00. Students will be assigned a numbered parking spot as their specific location to park. Students parking in unassigned areas will incur a $20 fine per occurrence.
® All students will be required to sign a safe driving contract.
® The Young Drivers Safety Initiative MANDATORY training date will be 12 August, 9-11 in the auxiliary gym for students with last names beginning A-L. Students with a last name beginning M-Z will have safe driver training 16 August, 1-3 pm in the auxuliary gym . All students seeking a parking permit MUST attend. Permits will be distributed after the training on a first come first serve basis.
® All students parking at Leonardtown High School will be encouraged to register their vehicle with the St. Mary’s County sheriff’s Office “S.T.O.P.P.E.D. Program”. Each student presenting supporting documentation demonstrating that their vehicle has been registered with the “S.T.O.P.P.E.D. Program” will receive a $10.00 discount taken from the total cost of their school parking permit. The supporting documentation must be presented at the time the student is paying for their parking permit.
