Dear Oakville Elementary Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about being principal at Oakville Elementary School.   I am honored to be at a school that is focused on student learning, and is committed to high expectations, innovation and collaboration.  I enjoy building upon the excellent academic achievements of the Oakville students as well as the unique educational opportunities that the school provides.
I would like to take a moment to share some information about my educational background and professional experience.  I graduated from Great Mills High School, attended St. Mary’s College, graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Forensic Science and served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. After departing active duty, I received degrees in education from The College of Santa Fe, New Mexico and George Mason University. I taught elementary grades four and five prior to teaching seventh grade math and science. I was given the administrative opportunity as an elementary assistant principal for three years in Virginia prior to returning to St. Mary’s County where I was hired as the assistant principal at Hollywood Elementary and most recently at Greenview Knolls Elementary. I am honored to now be serving as the principal of Oakville Elementary.
I believe in preparing students for a lifetime of learning, and it begins here in elementary school with creative, engaging instruction, where all students are known as individuals, with each child able to access curriculum and be held to the highest of standards. Along with a strong focus on high quality instruction, I work to ensure safe arrival and dismissal procedures, build upon the schools technology that directly impacts instruction, continue with the Green School initiative, and build a positive and welcoming school culture.
