Dear White Marsh Elementary Families,

 

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as acting principal at White Marsh Elementary School.  I am honored to join a school that is focused on student learning, and is committed to high expectations, innovation and collaboration.  I am looking forward to building upon the excellent academic achievements of the White Marsh students as well as collaborating with outstanding staff.

 

I would like to take a moment to share some information about my educational background and professional experience.  I graduated St. Mary's College with a degree in Human Studies and Education.  I completed my master's degree at Towson University at which time I received my certification as a Reading Specialist.  I also received my Administrative Certification through Towson.  I have been in public education for 15 years.  I began my teaching career in Charles County, where I taught third and fifth grades.  I have been an Assistant Principal at George Washington Carver Elementary and Benjamin Banneker Elementary.

 

A little about me personally... My husband and I have lived in Southern Maryland for 25 years.  The past 20 years we have lived in Charlotte Hall.  So, I have always been a White Marsh "neighbor"!  We have three grown children who still live in Maryland and are still the center of our world.

 

I have begun meeting with our staff members to learn more about the unique strengths, traditions and practices of White Marsh Elementary School.  I firmly believe that the home/school connection is an important factor in the success of our students.  I look forward to meeting the White Marsh families in the coming weeks.  Please feel free to stop by and say Hello!  I will be at school until 5:30 on Monday and Tuesday this week.  I will be in my office all day on Wednesday (there is no school for students that day) if you would like to stop by.  You are also welcome to schedule an appointment with me if you would prefer.  Please feel free to email me at baramsey@smcps.org with any questions or concerns.
