NAOF Coordinating Teacher
Mr. Chris King, Chair of the Professional Advisory Council for the National Academy of Finance program and Financial Advisor for Raley, Watts & O'Neill, presented a check for $10,000 to Mr. Bowling, Ms. Burr (NAOF School Coordinator), and Ms. Baden (NAOF teacher) at the recent Board of Education meeting. Mr. King worked with Ms. Burr and Ms. Baden to write the request for the $10,000 grant from Mass Mutual. The funds will be used to finance a trip for some of the NAOF students to travel to New York City and tour the financial district and participate in additional learning opportunities.
The Patuxent Partnership presented a check for $2,500 on November 12, 2014 to the National Academy of Finance students to support the NAOF program. The National Academy of Finance provides a pathway to higher education which will lead to employment in the fields of finance, business management, logistics, financial and business law, and international career opportunities.Students enrolled in the National Academy of Finance will experience a challenging academic curriculum which prepares them for college and careers in one of the most lucrative industries in our economy, financial services. The Chopticon National Academy of Finance offers a rich curriculum with enrichment experiences outside of the classroom and is supported by the Professional Advisory Council. The Professional Advisory Council (PAC) is made up of business, financial, and community leaders who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences to enrich the NAOF academic program. In addition, the PAC members work to provide scholarship and internship opportunities for the NAOF students.
