Guide for Spectators
Everyone is very excited and ready to see the student-athletes compete.
Spectator precautions to help slow the spread of COVID-19:
- Stay at home if you are sick
- Face coverings/masks are required indoors.
- Everyone is encouraged to wash their hands regularly or bring their own hand sanitizer
- Avoid high touch surfaces
Game day procedures for spectators:
- Spectators will be charged admission of $5.00 per game/match. We will be accepting cash at the ticket booth. It is highly recommended that you bring the exact dollar amount to limit the need to make change
- Spectators are expected to exit the stadium or gym promptly after the event is over
- Concession stands will be available.
- Spectators may be asked to leave the event if they fail to adhere to these requirements
These requirements are subject to modification at any time based on local and state guidance. St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) reserves the right to close these events to all spectators.
We will continue to monitor local and state health and safety guidelines and restrictions and will make decisions accordingly. We thank you for your support, and with your help, we can ensure the opportunity we have been provided to engage our student-athletes in education based athletics continues.
Student-centered approach to educating students through participation in Interscholastic Athletics. The concept of winning, though important, should not be the primary objective.
Athletic competition is designed to provide experiences which will allow the participant to grow physically, socially, mentally, and emotionally. It is expected that all participants display competitive spirit, outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary character through the year. Education-Based Athletics should assist the individual participant in becoming a contributing member of society.
Participation in the program is a privilege and not a right. Often, the number of students trying out for a sport exceeds the number of places available, making the process very competitive.
The athletic program adheres to the rules and regulation of the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference, the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association, and the National Federation of State High Schools.

Need to know future start dates? If in any doubt, please check with your high school A.D. Projected State Tournament Dates - 2019-2027
Before scheduling such events family as vacations or SAT examinations please check with your high school so as to avoid conflicts with athletic events. For example, Fall tryouts start in early August, and the SMAC Tennis Tournament may start on a Saturday in May when SATs are offered so do not register for that date in order to avoid missing out on the tennis tournament.
