Dr. Jerome Adams graduated from Chopticon High School in 1992. On August 3, 2017, Dr. Adams was confirmed to his appointment as the United States Surgeon General. His focus is on the opioid epidemic and untreated mental illness in the United States.
Dr. Adams was an exceptional scholar who finished in the top 5% of his Chopticon class and earned a University of Maryland Meyerhoff Scholarship. Dr. Adams completed his medical training at the Indiana University School of Medicine and now serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesia at the Indiana University School of Medicine and is the Chair of the Professional Diversity Committee for the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
