St. Mary’s County Fair 2019 Catalog Cover Contest
Here’s your chance for the entire county to see your amazing artwork! Students can submit a drawing to be voted on by a panel of judges to be used as the cover for the 2019 St. Mary’s County Fair catalog cover. The fair catalog is important because it lists all the exhibit classes, the premiums awarded and a program of events. The catalog is also available online and in the county’s public libraries. In addition to the catalog cover, the winning student will work with designers to create a sign advertising the fair. The signs will be placed on roadsides throughout St. Mary’s County. The winning design will also be used on t-shirts given to fair volunteers and sold to visitors. Some people take great pride in collecting all the shirts that have been printed since 1985. The second prize drawing will decorate the program of events that is handed out at the fair.
In addition to the recognition, there are cash awards to be won!
1st - $100
2nd - $50
Honorable Mention - $25
The winning school will also receive $50 for art supplies
Contest guidelines: The drawing should be done in black on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of white paper (no color please). Color will be added once the design has been chosen. Entries should be submitted to Ms. Huff by January 28, 2019.
The committee of judges are looking for original ideas that best portray the character of the St. Mary’s County Fair. Students have been designing the fair catalog cover for over 40 years! We hope our Duke artists will take part in this wonderful tradition!
Standards Based Report Cards
St. Mary’s County Public Schools formed a report card committee in 2015 and included representation from every elementary school in the county. The committee revised the pre-K – grade 2 Standards Based Report Card to reflect recent curriculum changes, which was successfully implemented this school year.
