The Hospitality and Tourism I Program is the first half of a two-year curriculum that affords an opportunity for students to learn the basic elements and requirements for careers in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. This course will introduce students to the broad industry which includes hotel and resort management, special event planning, and travel agencies. Students will explore a wide spectrum of specialized customer service skills that includes communication, quality service delivery, conflict resolution and many more.
The Hospitality and Tourism II Program is the second half of a two-year curriculum that affords an opportunity for students to enhance the skills learned in year 1 and learn the basic elements of management in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. Students will focus on the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program Curriculum. During the 2nd and 3rd marking periods students will have the opportunity to job shadow at some of the local hotels and conference centers.
Upon successful completion of the 2-year program AND passing the required exams, students will graduate with the following certifications:
- Maryland Tourism Education Foundation Customer Service certificate
- American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute Guest Service Gold certificate
- American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute Hospitality and Tourism Management Program level 1 certificate
There are no prerequisites for this program.
This class is a two-year program.

Year 1 = 2 periods
