Welcome to the Health Suite at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center!
Within this site you will find information about health services provided in St. Mary’s County Public Schools, as well as links to local and national health information centers.
It is Tech Center policy that we contact you if your child visits the nurse for assessment of illness or injury. Phone calls are our immediate line of communication with you, so please ensure that you have provided your child’s home school with current phone numbers. Student visits are also recorded on health passes. The student receives the original copy and is instructed to take it home to you. These notes are for your information about the assessment, and may prove helpful to the physician if further evaluation is necessary.
SMCPS nurses provide emergency services for injury and sudden illness; health appraisal and assessment; disease prevention and control; health counseling; environmental health and accident prevention; school/community health programs; health education lessons; and program evaluation and reporting. We are here, full-time, for the students and staff of our school system.
Enrolling in SMCPS Schools
If you are moving into the SMCPS system, you will need to provide your child’s home school with the following records: current immunization certificate, physical form, and lead screening certificate (PK -1st grade only). You may find the immunization requirements and appropriate forms on these links, or at any SMCPS school.
CDC Guidelines for Further Immunizations
(Please make a special note of the DTaP, HPV, and Meningoccocal vaccinerecommendations for teens. Contact your health care provider, or our local health department, 301-475-4316, for further information.)
This is part of the nurses' campaign to get the word out about prescription drug abuse.
